What is legal online in Ontario
Checked
Online casino play is legal in Ontario when it happens on a regulated site. iGaming Ontario keeps the list of those sites, and a site missing from it sits outside the regulated market.
The regulated market
Ontario's regulated online gambling market opened on April 4, 2022. Two bodies divide the work. iGaming Ontario conducts and manages the market. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, known as AGCO, regulates it.
The legal age is 19, for online gambling and for casinos alike. On Scugog Island, entry to Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel calls for a valid, original government-issued photo ID and a secondary photo ID. The operator's code of conduct is blunt about it: We ID under 30. On a regulated site, the line stays at 19.
Checking a site
iGaming Ontario publishes the list of regulated online gambling sites at igamingontario.ca. Checking a site means finding its name on that list. A site that is not on the list is not part of Ontario's regulated market, whatever its own pages say.
OLG.ca is part of the regulated market too. It is the online site of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the provincial agency. The same corporation has managed and conducted Great Blue Heron on Scugog Island since 2016. In this guide, the casino is one stop of a day in Port Perry.
Stepping away
BetGuard, at betguard.ca, has been run by iGaming Ontario since May 14, 2026. It lets a person exclude themselves from all regulated Ontario gambling sites, OLG.ca included. The choices are 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or a custom term. BetGuard does not cover land-based casinos.
For those, OLG's My PlayBreak lets a person self-exclude from Ontario casinos for 3 or 6 months, or 1 to 5 years. Requests go through the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098, on-site staff or a PlaySmart Centre. The term cannot be cancelled early. ConnexOntario offers free, confidential help 24/7: call 1-866-531-2600, text CONNEX to 247247, or chat at connexontario.ca.
Paid links on this site
This site is an independent guide: it is not a casino, takes no bets and has no accounts. Paid links appear on the home page alone, marked Ad. One sits in the menu, one below the first screen and one near the end of the page, all leading to the same online casino partner. The site earns a commission, and the partner can change. This page carries no paid link.
